How To Transfer From MetaMask To Crypto.com

There are tons of new cryptocurrency platforms each with various benefits and offerings.

MetaMask, founded in 2016, has become popular as it functions as an extension rather than a full web platform. However, some investors may not find all they are looking for with MetaMask, as it is limited to the Ethereum blockchain.

Crypto.com has one of the largest collections of coins available for trading.

If you want to transfer your assets to a new platform, we highlight each step to transfer from MetaMask to Crypto.com within.

New to the world of Crypto? Check out my full Coinbase tutorial below!

1. Select the Cryptocurrency on Crypto.com Application

locate the crypto on crypto.com

You will need a fully verified Crypto.com account.

The first step is to locate the type of cryptocurrency you are transferring over.

  • Open the Crypto.com mobile app.
  • Tap on "Accounts" and then "Crypto Wallet."

2. Copy the Address

Each crypto has a unique wallet address.

Copy the address for the crypto you are looking to send over from MetaMask.

  • Tap on the cryptocurrency you want to receive.
  • Select "Transfer" and then "Deposit."
  • Copy the "Wallet Address."

3. Select the Cryptocurrency on MetaMask Application

Now, head over to the MetaMask app to locate the crypto asset you're sending over to Crypto.com.

Make sure it matches the type of crypto for the wallet you just copied!

  • Launch your MetaMask mobile app.
  • Under the Tokens tab, select the desired cryptocurrency.

Double-Check the Network Selection

One of the most critical steps in transferring assets from MetaMask to Crypto.com is ensuring that you select the correct blockchain network.
Each cryptocurrency can exist on different blockchains — for example, USDT can operate on Ethereum (ERC20), Binance Smart Chain (BEP20), and others.

When copying the wallet address from Crypto.com, pay close attention to which network it specifies. Then, in MetaMask, make sure you're sending the asset using the same network.

If you send crypto to the wrong network, you could lose your funds permanently — so always verify before confirming the transaction.

4. Paste the Crypto.com Address and Amount

MetaMask withdrawal

Next, paste in the wallet address you copied over from Crypto.com - ensuring it matches the type of crypto you are sending over.

  • Tap on "Send."
  • Paste the Crypto.com address.
  • Enter the amount and tap "Next."

5. Assess Fees and Confirm

Lastly, before you confirm and send the transaction through, check out the fees.

  • Review the fee details.
  • Tap "Confirm" to finalize the transfer.
  • Verify the transaction status under the Activity tab on your MetaMask app.

Be Aware of Gas Fees and Optimize Costs

Gas fees are the transaction fees you must pay to miners when transferring assets on blockchains like Ethereum. These fees can sometimes be higher than the amount you're transferring if you aren't careful!

Before sending your crypto:

  • Check current gas fees using tools like Etherscan Gas Tracker.
  • Consider waiting for off-peak hours, such as late at night or weekends, when gas prices tend to be lower.
  • Manually adjust your gas fee in MetaMask under "Advanced Options" if you're comfortable doing so — but beware, lowering it too much might cause your transaction to get stuck or delayed.

Saving even a few dollars on gas fees adds up, especially if you're making multiple transfers over time.

Troubleshooting Common Transfer Issues

Even when following instructions carefully, hiccups can happen. Here's how to handle some common problems:

  • Transfer Taking Too Long:
Don't panic. Ethereum transactions can sometimes be delayed due to network congestion. Use your transaction hash (TxID) on Etherscan.io to check its real-time status.
  • Wrong Network Chosen:
If you accidentally select the wrong network, immediately contact Crypto.com customer support. In some cases (depending on the asset and network), they may be able to recover your funds — but recovery isn't guaranteed.
  • Insufficient Gas Fee Error:
If MetaMask alerts you that your gas fee is too low, go back and increase your gas price manually to prioritize your transaction.
  • Incorrect Wallet Address:
Double-check the address before sending. Always copy and paste wallet addresses instead of typing them manually to avoid mistakes.

Don't Forget About Taxes

Transferring crypto from MetaMask to Crypto.com is usually not a taxable event by itself — but it can become taxable if it involves selling, swapping, or spending crypto.

Depending on your country's laws:

  • If you sell or convert crypto on Crypto.com after transferring it in, that could trigger capital gains taxes.
  • Simply moving assets between wallets that you own typically does not create a tax liability — but it's important to keep clear records of your transfers.

Pro Tip: Use a crypto tax tracking tool like Koinly, CoinTracker, or TokenTax to automatically log your transactions for tax time.

When in doubt, consult a licensed accountant familiar with cryptocurrency taxation in your jurisdiction!

Conclusion

Transferring crypto from MetaMask to Crypto.com involves a few simple yet crucial steps.

Ensure accuracy in copying the crypto address and selecting the correct network to prevent any loss of assets.
