How To Cancel A Recurring Buy On Coinbase

Coinbase is a popular platform for buying, selling, and storing cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin.

One of Coinbase’s key features in 2025 is recurring buys, which allows you to automatically purchase a set amount of cryptocurrency on a schedule—such as daily, weekly, or monthly. This can help you dollar-cost average your investments effortlessly over time.

For those new to cryptocurrency, recurring buys offer a simple way to build crypto holdings without needing to manually place each order.

However, you might want to cancel a recurring buy for various reasons, such as adjusting your investment plan, changing payment methods, or pausing purchases temporarily.

In this updated guide, we will walk you through the latest 2025 steps to cancel a recurring buy on Coinbase on both desktop and mobile platforms, including tips to verify your cancellation and important details about the effect on existing purchases.

New to the world of Crypto? Check out my full Coinbase tutorial below!

How to Cancel a Recurring Buy on Coinbase in 2025

  1. Log in to your Coinbase account. You can use either the Coinbase mobile app or the web browser on your computer.
  2. Navigate to the Recurring Buys section.
    • Mobile App: Tap the center icon resembling a paper or list at the bottom menu (often labeled “Portfolio” or “Trade”). Then find and select Recurring Buys from the menu options.
    • Desktop/Web: Click on the “Portfolio” or “Assets” tab in the top menu bar, then locate the Recurring Buys section usually displayed on the right or within your asset details.
  3. Select the specific recurring buy you wish to cancel. You will see a list of all active recurring purchases. Tap or click on the buy you want to cancel to view its details.
  4. Click the “Cancel recurring purchase” button. This button may also say “Cancel subscription” or similar depending on your interface. Selecting this will prompt a confirmation pop-up.
  5. Confirm the cancellation. On the confirmation screen, review that you want to stop future automatic purchases, and then tap or click Confirm to finalize the cancellation.
  6. Verify your recurring buy has been canceled. Go back to the Recurring Buys section to ensure the entry is no longer listed or shows as canceled. You should also receive a confirmation email from Coinbase confirming the cancellation of the recurring purchase.

What Happens After Cancellation?

  • Any previous purchases made through the recurring buy remain in your account and are unaffected by cancellation. These completed transactions cannot be reversed or refunded through the cancellation process.
  • All future scheduled purchases will be stopped immediately after cancellation.
  • Coinbase currently does not offer a “pause” option for recurring buys, so canceling fully disables the schedule; however, you can always set up a new recurring buy later if you change your mind.

Additional Tips and Resources

  • If you encounter any issues canceling your recurring buys, visit Coinbase’s official support pages for assistance.
  • For those interested, you can find updated tutorials on managing recurring buys and other Coinbase features on YouTube and other video platforms; the embedded tutorial above is current as of 2025.
  • FAQ Highlights:
    • Can I pause instead of cancel? Currently, no direct pause feature exists; you must cancel and re-establish the recurring buy later.
    • Will I be charged if my payment method has insufficient funds? The purchase will fail if funds are insufficient; Coinbase will notify you and will not complete the buy.
