Betterment is a robo-advisor offering automated investments for both beginning and more experienced investors.
It is a solid option for its cash management accounts, including a no-fee checking account and high-yield savings accounts.
Betterment's cash management products are designed to help you earn more in interest than you might find at competing financial institutions. Its online cash management products are set up to help you save more of your money by removing many of the costs you may be charged elsewhere.
But how about the customer service, does it hold up? Here is how to get ahold of Betterment customer support.
To its credit, Betterment clearly spells out how to reach them by email or telephone. There is no option for a live chat on the site.
Based on the help you need, it is broken down into 2 separate numbers:
According to their site, these are the hours when you can reach Betterment:
You can also email them here: [email protected]
Our emails to Betterment went through without a hitch. Best of all, we did not receive an auto-generated message that due to a large volume of customer requests, we could expect a longer than expected delay. Many Betterment competitors use a similar reply in seemingly endless loops.
In order to investigate how convenient it is to reach a live support person, we dialed the general inquiries phone number at (646) 600-8263.
We were given several options and selected “general questions.” While the robo-voice did suggest we refer to the Betterment site’s FAQ section, we were immediately put on hold with elevator music in the background.
In less than 5 minutes, we were connected to a polite, live customer support team member. This is one of the shortest waits we have experienced when trying to get help by phone.
Betterment does not try to discourage people from contacting them in the way other investing apps frequently do. There are no messages about longer than usual wait times. E-mails go through right to Betterment seamlessly.
However, by far the fastest way to contact Betterment customer support is by phone.
We were impressed with Betterment’s customer service availability.
